Community Transport - The Driving Force. Community Transport Schemes are charities. They run on a shoestring and use a small army of drivers, driving their own cars and sometimes specialised vehicles. There are 7 community transport schemes operating in Herefordshire - the one covering the Golden Valley is called DORE Community Transport. Who is community transport for? The simple answer to this is anyone. Users of DORE Community Transport are of all ages and abilities, but they all have one thing in common - they are without transport or access to public transport and cannot get to, for example, doctors, hospitals, events, shops, learning facilities - the list is endless. Passengers pay a contribution towards the cost of their journey, based on local bus fares. Herefordshire Council subsidises the service. Other than that we rely on donations and fundraising to survive. Generous donations and a recent successful grant application mean that we currently have £23,000 towards a
